Description

The Paithani takes its name from Paithan in Maharashtra, where these silk sarees have been woven for centuries. Its signatures are the zari worked in an oblique, square design and the richly patterned pallu, here with the peacock, the motif most closely associated with Paithani weaving.

Emerald green and deep violet are classic Paithani colours that make the gold zari glow. It is a saree to wear to a wedding, a reception or a festival, and one to keep for years.
