Description
The panetar is the traditional wedding saree of Gujarat: a white body with a red border, often dotted with bandhani. In many families it is a gift to the bride from her maternal uncle and is worn for the wedding ceremony.
This panetar is made in Bhuj, Kutch, in pure gaji silk. The bandhani is tied and dyed by hand, each dot a tiny knot of fabric tied before dyeing, and the saree is finished with zardozi borders.
